The sand on Siesta Key Beach, Florida is unique from any other beach on the planet and is comprised of 99.9% quartz crystal. Imagine walking on baby powder or flour. This is what the sand feels like on Siesta Key Beach.
Siesta Key is the recipient of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute’s “World’s Finest, Whitest Sand” award based upon its content (99% quartz), texture (crystal shapes), and the amount of shoreline (quite wide).
Beach sand varies from coast to coast. For example, the sand on the beach in New Jersey is darker because it contains a high amount of basalt. The sand on the Mexican Riviera has more of a golden color to it from its protective coral reefs.
Even on days when the temperature is in the 90’s F (30’s C), the sand remains cool on your feet.
One of the legends of why the sand is 99% quartz crystal is that it’s created from the constant tidal friction from the submerged underwater crystals of Atlantis out in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore from Siesta Key Beach.
Recently, I spoke to an elderly couple from Iowa who are visiting Siesta Key Beach as “snowbirds”. They stated that they have much more energy here than in Iowa and added how many of their other transient friends have also commented similar sentiments.
Quartz crystal is commonly known for its capacity to harness energy as well as its healing abilities and is used every day in optics, acoustics and electronic applications. The sacred power of quartz crystal has been affiliated to many cultures, such as the American Indian, Tibetan monks, and Druid priests.
Many people believe quartz crystal can help them access a higher state of consciousness.
Every Sunday evening, there is a drum circle on Siesta Key beach. This is a huge event that attracts hundreds of people in the summertime. In the fall and winter, not as many people attend but the energy is always there! When you combine the drum circle with the crystal sand, it becomes a magical event with the blending of these two amazing energies.
While the interpretation is subjective to the individual the fact remains that this quartz crystal sand is completely unique from any other sand on the planet.
