I recently experienced a toothache on one of my molars and found that my gums were very sensitive, so I looked into holistic treatments to find a remedy for my pain. One such remedy is colloidal silver.

Upon researching colloidal silver, I found numerous testimonies to its effectiveness, yet colloidal silver is not recognized by the FDA as being either safe or effective. That, alone, gave me reason to believe that colloidal silver was a beneficial remedy.

Let’s take a brief look at the some of the dubious acts performed by the FDA.

1. The FDA helped to fund and coordinate raids on raw milk farmers.

2. The number of people killed by FDA-approved pharmaceuticals since 9/11 is equivalent to dropping a nuclear bomb on a major U.S. city.

3. Despite numerous deaths, the FDA keeps pharmaceuticals on the market for as long as possible.

4. Approved harmful products such as aspartame despite research showing harmful, long term effects.

5. Approved GMO’s without performing longitudinal studies.

In an interview with Dr. David Graham, a whistleblower and senior drug safety researcher at the FDA, Graham stated, “Since November, when I appeared before the Senate Finance Committee and announced to the world that the FDA was incapable of protecting America from unsafe drugs or from another Vioxx, very little has changed on the surface and substantively nothing has changed.”

Graham added, “As currently configured, the FDA is not able to adequately protect the American public. It’s more interested in protecting the interests of industry. The FDA isn’t going to change the way it does business; changes will have to be imposed from outside.”

Colloidal silver is a mineral. Despite promoters’ claims, silver has no known function in the body and is not an essential mineral supplement. Colloidal silver products were once available as over-the-counter products, but in 1997, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ruled that colloidal silver drug products were not considered safe or effective. Colloidal silver products marketed for medical purposes or promoted for unproven uses are now considered “misbranded” under the law.

There are many Internet ads for the parts of a generator that produces colloidal silver at home. People who produce colloidal silver at home will likely not be able to evaluate their product for purity or strength. There are many products that are far safer and more effective than colloidal silver.

Despite these concerns about safety and effectiveness, people still buy colloidal silver as a dietary supplement and use it for a wide range of ailments. Colloidal silver is used to treat infections due to yeast; bacteria (tuberculosis, Lyme disease, bubonic plague, pneumonia, leprosy, gonorrhea, syphilis, scarlet fever, stomach ulcers, cholera); parasites (ringworm, malaria); and viruses (HIV/AIDS, pneumonia, herpes, shingles, warts).

Colloidal silver is also used for lung conditions including emphysema and bronchitis; skin conditions including rosacea, cradle cap (atopic dermatitis), eczema, impetigo, and psoriasis; and inflammation (sometimes due to infection) of the bladder (cystitis), prostate (prostatitis), colon (colitis), nose (rhinitis), stomach (gastritis), tonsils (tonsillitis), appendix (appendicitis), and sinuses (sinusitis).

Other uses include treatment of cancer, diabetes, arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, leukemia, hay fever and other allergies, trench foot, and gum disease.

Colloidal silver is also used to prevent flu, H1N1 (swine) flu, and the common cold.

Some women take colloidal silver during pregnancy to aid the baby’s growth and health as well as the mother’s delivery and recovery.

Colloidal silver is applied directly to the skin for acne, burns, eye infections, fungal infections, throat infections, skin infections, and Staphylococcus infections.

How does colloidal silver work?

Colloidal silver can kill certain germs by binding to and destroying proteins.

“Research on colloidal silver shows it to be an effective resource against infections and pathogens, yet very little is known about it by the general public or the medical profession. Prior to 1938 it was in common use by doctors. According to Alexander G. Schauss, PhD, of Johns Hopkins University, considerable scientific evidence has been published regarding the effectiveness of silver as an antiseptic against “several hundred pathogenic organisms.” He also points out that silver is not an antibiotic because, by definition, antibiotics are derived from living organisms.

Janet Zand, LAc, OMD, Allan N. Spreed, MD, CNC, James B. LaValle, RPh, ND, stated in Smart Medicine for Healthier Living : Practical A-Z Reference to Natural and Conventional Treatments for Adults added the following:

“Colloidal silver is a liquid mineral supplement that fights infection. Take 10 drops three to four times daily. If you must take antibiotics, restore the body’s “friendly” bacteria by taking a probiotic supplement, such as acidophilus and/or bifidobacteria, as recommended on the product label. If you are allergic to milk, select a dairy-free formula. Colostrum is another effective probiotic that can be taken on a rotating basis with acidophilus and bifidobacteria. Take 300 milligrams three times daily, between meals.”

Why does the FDA not recognize the benefits of colloidal silver?

If colloidal silver is the ultimate antibiotic, then every other pharmaceutical company who is pimping their less-than-effective products would lose billions of dollars in sales. As we know, Big Pharma hasn’t cured anything since polio because the money is found with repeat customers as there is no money in cures. It all boils down to profits, money, greed and eugenics. There are two things the FDA and Big Pharma are not concerned about: 1.) your best interests and 2.) finding cures.

What are the side effects of colloidal silver?

According to a GOVERNMENT website, the following side effects were listed:

*Colloidal silver is not safe or effective for treating any disease or condition.
*Colloidal silver can cause serious side effects. The most common is argyria, a bluish-gray discoloration of the skin, which is usually not treatable or reversible.

Bear in mind that this is the same government who believes aspartame, fluoride and GMO’s are good for you. Also, the government is supported by lobbyists and Big Pharma, who stands to lose a lot of revenue from the future, potential sales of antibiotics, antimicrobials, antibacterials, etc… if colloidal silver got the backing from the FDA.

What are the benefits of colloidal silver?

Reported benefits of colloidal silver include:

* promotes a healthy immune system
* improves the immune system
* powerful antibiotic, antibacterial, anti-parasitic, and antimicrobial
* topical antiseptic and antifungal
* fights the common cold and virtually all strains of the flu
* is easily digestible and absorbed
* no known contradictions to medications
* few and limited side effects (namely argyria which causes your skin to turn bluish-gray)
* can be used to relieve eye irritation
* purifies water
* has been used to treat sun spots, candida, dental infections, MRSA infections and urinary tract infections

Where can I buy colloidal silver?

I bought a 16 ounce bottle of “Sovereign Silver” at my local organic store for around $50 but you can find much better deals than that, such as Silver Biotics on Amazon, which has the same amount of silver per teaspoon but costs less than $22 for the same sized bottle. You can actually buy a 32 ounce bottle of Silver Biotics colloidal silver for less than what I paid for a 16 ounce bottle (around $37 a bottle).

For the record, my toothache was completely gone after using colloidal silver for one day.

In5D Addendum: Another way I’m using colloidal silver is to rinse my mouth with it for about 1 minute after brushing with non-fluoridated toothpaste. After spitting that out, I consume several more ounces after holding it under my tongue for 30 seconds. Because we brush our teeth everyday, this is a great way to remind yourself to take colloidal silver!
