Is it possible that many relationships will succeed because they have compatible element signs while incompatible element signs tend to fail?
If you look at the strongest relationships in your life, whether they are family members, close friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, etc..., you will find that the majority of these all have one thing in common: compatible element signs.
The basics of compatibility is based on your personal birth sign and the element that it is associated with. Each sign has one of four associated elements attached to it:
Fire Signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius Air Signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius Earth Signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces
The odds are stacked against you when trying to find a compatible mate. For example, if a heterosexual woman is trying to find a heterosexual man (or vide versa), the odds are only around 25% when trying to find someone with a compatible element sign, assuming that 50% of the population is male and half of those males have incompatible signs.
Many people will write this off as hogwash, but from what I've noticed in other relationships, as well as experienced through my own relationships, there is great validity in this premise. Both of my ex-wives had incompatible elements. I am a Libra (Air sign) and married a Pisces (Water sign) and a Virgo (Earth sign). The ideal elements for an Air sign are Fire signs and fellow Air signs whereas Earth and Water signs will usually be compatible with one another. Fire signs get along best with Air signs (as Fire needs Air) and other Fire signs.
Same Element Relationships
Two Fire Signs
The three Fire signs of the zodiac are: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. This element signifies energy. When two people who are both fire signs get together, they mutually understand that actions speak louder than words. If they can agree on a course of action, watch out – they will definitely get things done. In love, this manifests as taking the relationship deeper, faster. Often the strongest relationships are those forged with certainty early on. There is little hemming and hawing in a Fire-Fire relationship – you both either go for it or you don't.
Two Earth Signs
The three Earth signs of the zodiac are: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. This element signifies materialism. When two Earth signs first start dating, the practical aspects of why you two should be together get discussed right away. The hurdles to commitment will be based more on economic and cultural differences than they will be in emotions or passion. Two Earth signs have concrete goals and expectations of the partnership to further things along. When it appears that these standards can be met, love blossoms.
Two Air Signs
The three Air signs of the zodiac are: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. This element signifies ideas. When two Air signs get together, communication is the core of the relationship. Exchanging ideas and discussing options is the method in which you two establish intimacy and build a foundation of trust. If one partner talks more, it is because the other understands where the whole conversation is going at all times. A quiet air sign controls communication by staying in charge of access and availability. Without speaking, the mere presence of one Air sign partner says enough to the other as a reassurance of love and commitment that both lovers can get to work.
Two Water Signs
The three Water signs of the zodiac are: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. This element signifies emotions. When two Water signs are in a relationship, you each understand the other's approach and reasoning on a gut level. You may not be able to articulate the intricacies of why and how he does what he does, but you get it, and since he gets you, the two of you find a space for mutual love and respect. Without the friction of having your motives questioned or your goals defined, though, you might have nothing to aim for and your love relationship can be seen as a drifting away from priorities. Two Water signs swim together well, but may often just float along and get almost nothing done.
Opposing Element Relationships
Fire and Air
The opposite element from each Fire sign is an Air sign. Air challenges Fire to stop and think about why you do what you are doing. The philosophical side of things is not a priority for Fire. Meanwhile, Fire demands that Air get up and do something, rather than just sit around and discuss what should be done. Fire signs do not want to hear about love – they want to love.
Earth and Water
The opposite sign from each Earth sign is a Water sign. This is a reminder that there is more to life than status, facts and a dollar amount. The need for love to be pure and given unconditionally flies in the face of the Earth sign's love of logic, which is exactly why an Earth-Water match-up makes for such a beautiful partnership.
Other Elemental Relationships
Fire and Earth
People who are born under Earth signs are inspirations to the Fire sign, as one's actions yield results. An Earth-Fire relationship will last if the ground rules include wide latitude early on and time is taken to define boundaries.
Fire and Water
Those born under Water signs look up to all that a Fire sign is doing with a deep desire to know how you do it. The capacity that every Water sign has to feel inspires a purpose in the actions of the Fire sign.
Earth and Air
An Earth-Air affair will be strong if each partner has specific roles that are adhered to. Air signs have great ideas and Earth signs can make them happen, but Air must chip in on the hard work and take direction about what is actually attainable as a partnership.
Air and Water
Air signs can live in the realm of the theoretical and not notice a disconnect between the way they think and the way they behave. A Water sign brings the emotional side back into the picture and balances the logic of the Air sign.
If you are in a relationship with an incompatible element, that does not necessarily mean it is doomed to fail. You may share the same ascending sign or the zodiac sign might be neighboring YOUR zodiac sign in which you may have similar, but slightly different energies. There may also be karma associated with relationship or there are some life lessons that you need to learn from this particular person. Every relationship has its purpose and meaning. Chances are, you made a soul contract with this person, regardless of their zodiac sign and associated element.
For those who understand astrology, you may want to see which sign is in your 7th House (the house of relationships) as well as your partner's 7th House. This is one of those rare cases where opposites attract. The 7th House descendant is directly opposing your Sun Sign. You may also want to see if your partner's sun or moon shares compatibility with your own signs in the 7th House. You may want to investigate the aspects between Mars and Venus for compatibility as well as the outer planets and the North Node of the Moon.
Overall, you will find that many of the best relationships in your life involve people who have compatible element signs.
