What If We Expressed More Gratitude?

by Rainbow Ra,

Sweet is the breath of vernal shower,
The bee’s collected treasures sweet,

Sweet music’s melting fall, but sweeter yet
The still small voice of gratitude.
Ode for Music, Thomas Gray

The holiday of Thanksgiving comes but once a year. How might our world change if we adopted a daily, or dare I say, a moment by moment attitude of gratitude?

The Eagle Project

Nearly a year and a half ago, my husband sighted a bald eagle soaring right over our roof top! This was only the second time either of us had viewed this spectacular species on our property … and we’ve lived here over three decades. I had read if one sees an eagle that one is invited to look at things from a new, higher perspective. This view can be obtained by writing ten things for which one is thankful for each of twenty-one days. During this time, our family was in the midst of being caretakers for our son. I decided on behalf of my husband to begin a gratitude journal. Some days it was quite difficult to come up with ten items, but I searched high and low to find them. Other days I found more than ten. Thinking of things for which to be thankful when one is in the midst of heartrending happenings can be very challenging. I began to look for even the littlest thing. Perhaps I had some tasty food, maybe the sun was shining, or it was raining. It could have been a simple smile from someone, an “I love you”, a glance or a hug. I kept the journal for 24 days. On the 26th day, our son’s soul tugged free of his earthly chrysalis. My point in sharing my story with you is this. Even if you think you have nothing in the world for which to be thankful, if you look in the nooks and crannies, there is always something. You could find that sometimes the littlest things are truly the most important! I am grateful our family had the opportunity to be with our son during this time and thankful I can share this with YOU!

Gratitude Practice

What if many decided to sincerely thank others for their actions? What if we acknowledged the world at large for unexpected blessings? What if gratitude journals became common? What if we pretended Thanksgiving was every day? It would not be for the purpose of gluttonously bloating our bellies, but of generously gifting the world with our appreciation. If we filled our hearts with that magnificent feeling of gratitude and allowed it to overflow, perhaps a new found sense of the 5th dimensional characteristics of abundance and mindfulness could result! I believe Thomas Gray would agree, this gratitude would be sweeter yet and it starts with one small voice at a time! Thank-you for reading this!

Blessings!

P.S. As synchronicity would have it, just as I completed my last edit of this article, my husband reported he spied two white headed wonders on his way home today! Let’s see, now I must do at least 42 days in my gratitude journal!

I try to do a “Walk of Gratitude” at least once a day.  Gratitude is one of the 5 things my guides want me remind everyone as often as possible:

1.  LOVE
2. Express GRATITUDE
3. FORGIVE
4. Maintain a HIGH VIBRATION
5. GROUND yourself

Join me in my Walk of Gratitude in the video below:

Feel free to use it, change it around, add God, Jesus, Buddha or anyone else you desire to the list or take away names on this list to make it your own!
