Why Don’t We Remember the Other Side of the Veil?

A Dream That Changed Everything
Have you ever woken up from a dream that felt more like a memory than your imagination? Not just vivid, or emotional, but familiar… as though you had briefly remembered something you weren’t supposed to remember.
I’ve had many dreams throughout my life that stayed with me, but one in particular changed how I looked at this journey we call life.
What I Saw on the Other Side
As many of you know, I have an ongoing dream journal. Back in 2012, I had a dream that didn’t feel like an ordinary dream at all:

Before you reincarnate to this planet, you will go through a series of tests to see if you remember anything about being on the other side of the veil. Here’s my story.
I recently had a dream where I was on the other side of the veil making my soul contract.
My soul mate’s sister, Amie, agreed to meet me on this side of the veil because my soul mate wasn’t going to incarnate with me. At the time, I thought my true soulmate was on the other side of the veil because she had shown herself to me in a previous dream. As it turned out, that woman is now my wife, Ali. Amie looked nearly identical to my ex-wife, Jodi, and our arrangement to meet one another was approved by my soulmate.
I saw part of my soul contract when I was on the other side. I remember seeing my daughter’s name, Brittany, along with a Shetland Sheepdog named Honey. I don’t remember what else was on my soul contract.
The next thing I remember was that I was getting ready to reincarnate but I was told that everything I knew about the other side of the veil would be erased from my memory. I tried as hard as I could to remember everything that I had seen.
I was placed in an elevator-like room, which represented the descending process to earth. I remember being in this place many times beforehand but could not remember what I was supposed to do next. I was on the top floor (the 14th floor which meant the 14th dimension). My memory was so badly erased that I couldn’t remember how to descend to Earth. This is a test we receive on the other side to see if any memories were remembered and if so, then you would have to go back and have them cleared again. There were other tests to see what I remembered but I can’t recall what they were.
These were the last fragmented memories of the other side before I was born.
As it turned out, I did have a Shetland Sheepdog named Honey when I was a child. Amie is the mother of our child, Brittany, but in this dream, the woman named Amie looked like my ex-wife, Jodi. Ultimately, I may have married my soulmate’s sister when I married Jodi? The only thing I remember about my soulmate is her amazing, angelic smile. I know she wants me to be happy here without her and I believe she stayed on the other side to guide me throughout this journey.
Recently, I spoke to my father about soul contracts. My Dad said that he had one memory of being on the other side of the veil and that was of the house he is currently living in. When he was on the other side, he knew exactly where he would be living at some point in his life. He has also had repeating dreams of 4 men in suits who visit him. I believe these are his spirit guides.
Unfortunately most, if not all, of our memories are erased before we reincarnate to this 3rd dimensional reality. If we knew all of the answers and what our soul contracts contained, then what challenges would we have? In the end, it really is a blessing and a gift to remember who you are and why you’re here.
Why Would We Forget?
It felt like I was remembering…. or more succinctly, re-remembering, as if I’ve already done this before.
In the dream, I found myself on what many people call the other side of the veil. I wasn’t watching events unfold. I was participating in them. I remember seeing what appeared to be my own soul contract and one thing stood out immediately: I saw my daughter’s name, Brittany and I also saw the name of a Shetland Sheepdog named Honey.
Better Questions Than Better Answers
At the time, those details seemed incredibly specific but years earlier, Honey had been the name of my childhood dog, and Brittany, of course, is my daughter.
- Coincidence?
- Memory?
- Symbolism?
I honestly don’t know, but what fascinated me wasn’t trying to prove the dream; it was trying to understand why it felt so real.
The next part of the dream has stayed with me ever since where I was preparing to incarnate.Before descending to Earth, I was told that everything I knew about where I had just been would be erased and I remember fighting that process.
Looking Back, Everything Changed
I REALLY wanted to remember EVERYTHING! I tried as hard as I could to hold onto everything I had experienced but that’s when I entered what looked like an elevator, but it wasn’t an ordinary elevator… it represented my descent into this 3rd dimensional reality that we call life.
I remember standing on what appeared to be the fourteenth floor. I felt like it represented incarnating from the 14th dimension where the other side of the veil exists.
What I Do Remember isThis
My memory had already been erased so thoroughly that I couldn’t even remember how the process worked, and yet, it felt like a test, because if I remembered too much, then I’d have to go back and have those memories removed again. Those were the last fragments I remember before waking.
For years I’ve wondered, “Why would we forget?” Maybe because if we remembered every lesson before taking the test, life wouldn’t require faith, growth, or discovery. Maybe forgetting is part of the experience… or maybe dreams simply give our subconscious an incredible way to tell stories.
No one truly knows the answers… I simply know how profoundly that dream affected me.
The Biggest Mystery of All
One thing I’ve learned after documenting thousands of spiritual experiences over the past 17 years is that the value isn’t found in convincing someone else that your interpretation is correct. The value comes from asking yourself better questions.
For example:
- Have you ever dreamed of somewhere that felt more like home than Earth?
- Have you ever met someone in a dream who felt familiar, even though you’d never met them here?
- Have you ever woken up with the overwhelming feeling that you had forgotten something incredibly important?
Whether those experiences are spiritual, psychological, symbolic or something science has yet to explain, they matter because they happened to you.
Looking back now, something strikes me as an incredible synchronicity. In that dream, I fought desperately to remember before everything disappeared. Today, more than a decade later, I’ve spent years building something inspired by that same idea, not because I think an app can tell you what your dreams mean, because it can’t. Only you can truly discover what your experiences mean to you.
