How To COMPLETELY REMOVE The COVID19 App From Your Cell Phone!

A few weeks ago, we learned about how Google installed a COVID-19 app on all of our phones. We learned how to shut off this service if it was enable, but we didn’t learn how to GET RID of this app…. until now.

As far as I know, this only works for Android phones. Let me know if it works on iPhones.

How To check if the COVID-19 app is on your phone

I just eliminated this app from my Android phone, so I can attest that this process works.

1. Go to Settings (cog wheel)

2. Click on Google

3. If you see COVID-19 Exposure Notifications, then it was automatically downloaded onto your phone without your approval or knowledge

How To permanently remove the COVID-19 app

1. Go to the Play Store app on your cell phone to make sure your phone isn’t following you

2. Click the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left hand side of the page and click Settings

3. Click “Auto Update Apps” and select “Don’t auto update apps”. You can still manually update any app.

4. Go back to your phone’s Settings and select “Security & Location”

5. Click “Find My Device” and choose the option to shut this off

6. Go back to “Settings” and select “Apps & notifications”

7. Select “See all __ apps”

8. Select “Google Play Services”

9. Click the 3 vertical lines in the upper right hand side of your phone

10. Select “Uninstall updates”

At this point, you can go back and see if the COVID-19 app has been removed. (please refer back to “How To check if the COVID-19 app is on your phone”). If you followed these steps, it should no longer be in your cell phone.
