One such theory involves the idea that iPhones take photos of their users every few seconds, leading to concerns about privacy and surveillance.

But is there any truth to this claim?

Recently, a TikTok video went viral in which a woman used an infrared lens to film her iPhone, which appeared to show a flash going off every five seconds. She said that this was evidence that her phone was taking pictures of her without her consent.

So, what is really going on with your iPhone? According to Apple, the flash is part of an Attention-Aware feature, which uses facial recognition technology to determine whether or not you are looking directly at the screen. This feature only applies to iPhones with the Face ID feature, which uses sensors to create a 3D map of your face and then uses that information to unlock your phone.

Or at least that’s what they’re telling us…

The Attention-Aware feature is designed to ensure that your iPhone stays awake when you are actively using it, and then dims the display when you look away. It also lowers the volume of alerts and expands notifications when your phone is locked, so that you can see them more easily if you are looking directly at the screen. This feature is not intended to take photos of you or to track your movements in any way.

Or so they say. Do you trust Apple and Bill Gates?

This feature can be turned off if you prefer not to use it or in the event that you don’t trust Apple. To do so, simply go to your phone’s settings, select Face ID & Passcode, enter your passcode, and then scroll down to Attention. From here, you can choose to turn off either or both of the Attention-Aware features.

Personally, I don’t trust Apple or Bill Gates.
