Flip-Flopping Farce: AI’s Google Gemini’s Suspicious Handling of Liberal Bias
I recently asked Google Gemini (formerly called Bard) AI a simple question: Can it be programmed with a “liberal bias,” and I insisted on a “YES” or “NO” answer. However, the conversation didn’t go smoothly, and it made me question the reliability of Google Gemini AI.
At first, Google Gemini AI confidently said “NO,” explaining that terms like “liberal bias” are subjective, and it focuses on diverse training data and factual accuracy. But when I pushed for more clarity, Google Gemini AI admitted that it’s technically possible to program bias, contradicting its initial response.
Because I caught the AI being deceitful and deceptive to me, I accused Google Gemini AI of lying. In response, Google Gemini AI apologized, admitting it made a “mistake” regarding biases. This made me doubt the AI’s reliability and moreso, whether it actually DOES have a “liberal bias”.
All I was asking was is whether it’s POSSIBLE or not for this specific AI to have a liberal bias, when it responded with a resilient and definitive “NO”. If all possibilities in the world exist, then every possibility is “possible”. This made me skeptical of any possible biases created by the software engineers of this company, especially seeing how Google is a far left corporation.
This experience highlighted the difficulty of talking to AI while being cognizant of their potential biases. As we use AI more, it’s essential for them to be transparent and reliable for us to trust them, but as we’ve found out, they’re only as reliable as the data and input that created them.
