Happy Full Moon in Cancer!

This Full Moon becomes exact at 6:48 PM New York time (23:48 GMT) on Monday, January 17. This Full Moon at almost 28 degrees of Cancer opposing the sun in Capricorn coincides with the first Mercury Retrograde of 2022, which begins in Aquarius and then will eventually move into Capricorn.

Pluto’s placement just over one degree away from the sun (and opposing the full moon with just over one degree of orb) is the main feature in this Full Moon chart. Pluto is the planet of transformation. Ruled by Scorpio, its role is to break apart anything that needs to be transformed and to make room for some up-leveling to be able to occur. When it is in the masculine, grounded sign of Capricorn—which is concerned with structure in all ways– it is apt to break down the structures of the old world, both within and without, leaving room for the new to emerge.

In my 2022 astrology and energetic preview (which you can access here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVLe3XcAniE&t=9s), I talked about how we are entering the United States of America’s first Pluto Return (which becomes exact in February). Between now and when Pluto moves into Aquarius full-time in 2024 we are bound to probably witness some pretty significant upheaval here in the United States. With Pluto’s influence on this chart, we could potentially see a preview of the exact Pluto Return’s effect here over the next 28 days.

On a more micro level, Pluto’s effect on this Full Moon asks us to examine the nitty-gritty nuts-and-bolts details of our life (the Capricorn, 6th house stuff), and to make the necessary changes that our soul knows are needed. Pluto doesn’t always ask before it precipitates changes though (LOL), so we also need to be flexible and be willing to go with the flow with whatever changes might arise naturally.

Here are some questions to ask yourself—or ideally to journal on—to help you make the best of this important first Full Moon of 2022:

  • What is working for me in life right now? What isn’t?
  • In what ways am I being unrealistic in my life right now?
  • In what ways am I being too conservative in my life right now?
  • What does my financial situation look like, from a real, grounded standpoint?
  • What grounded, earthly goals do I have in 2022? Are these realistic?
  • In what ways am I being too hard on myself?
  • In what ways do I need to be harder on myself? How do I need to be more disciplined?
  • If I had to guess, what changes would my soul want me to make at this time?
  • If life knew better than my ego, how might that change the way I go about things?

Destructive, disruptive Pluto opposing the full moon in its home sign of Cancer—which is the realm of emotions—also means that people may be irrationally emotional and eruptive during this time. With Mercury’s Retrograde (more on that later), people may be super on edge, and the slightest trigger may send them into irrational emotional reactions.

Cancer is also the sign of the Divine Feminine—it naturally enjoys mothering and nurturing. It is the womb of the Zodiac. During this Cancer Full Moon cycle, we strongly desire to be nurtured and to nurture others. It is the time to connect with the feminine/moon aspects of life in all ways, and with water.

We also may naturally feel more emotionally reactive during this Cancer Full Moon cycle. Cancer/the moon rules emotions. As human beings, we are here to experience a whole range of emotions. All emotions are valid; it’s just that each emotion is at a different frequency. Our soul puts us here to experience the whole range of emotions here in the third dimension.

LUNAR NODES FORMING ANGLES WITH THIS FULL MOON

The sun trines the North Lunar Node, which also sextiles the full moon. This very first lunation of the year is setting the tone for 2022. The supportive angles that it is creating with the North Node of the moon makes this an extremely important moon for both the direction of the collective, and the direction of each of you as individuals on your own unique Ascension journeys.

With the Lunar Nodes moving into the Scorpio/Taurus polarity here in 2022, the theme of the collective is renegotiating the economic and power structures of the planet. The theme for individuals is exploring the themes of Abundance and wealth, relationships, sexuality, and power/lack of power within.

Here in the third dimension, it’s part of our mission as part of our evolutionary spiritual processes to honor all emotions within, rather than pushing them away or judging them.

What is it like to just feel an uncomfortable emotion? To just sit with it for a moment? To remove judgment from it and just let it be? The truth is that when we push away uncomfortable emotions within, we only make the Shadow aspect within (which could be said to be the projection of the amalgam of the unhealed/unfelt/unexpressed parts of self) stronger.

Allow the Shadow self to be, to exist. Allow the uncomfortable/inconvenient emotions to pop up once in awhile, and give them the time of day to be felt and honored. You’ll find if you do this that your overall experience of life will become more satisfying. The happy times become more sustainable when the Shadow parts within are honored.

WHAT DOES HOME MEAN FOR YOU?

Cancer, which is the fourth sign of the Zodiac wheel (and also the ruler of the fourth house), is associated with the home—including your living environment, the people you live with, and your family of origin. We feel a natural call during the Cancer Full Moon cycle to come home in all ways that that may be.

Some people may feel called to travel to or reconnect with their family of origin. Some may put effort into improving the look and feel of their physical home. Others may go camping or hiking in the woods in order to re-establish the feeling of being home with Mother Earth. Or you might find yourself doing all three!

Is your current home environment providing you what you need to grow and expand? (Or is it holding you back?) Are the people you are spending the most time with supporting your highest evolution? (Or are they holding you back?)

If you don’t feel like your current home environment is providing you with what you need to grow, then what kind of home environment do you desire? Who is there with you (or are you alone)? What does the scenery look like? How does it feel?

Journal on what your perfect home looks like, if you feel called to.

Home also has to do with the home that is your body and mind. What would it feel like to surrender completely to the experiencing of being in your body, even if you are in chronic physical discomfort like so many Lightworkers are on this journey? What would it feel like if your mind was a source of comfort and peace rather than distraction, worry or confusion? How could you do a better job of making yourself feel safe regardless of what is going on in the outside world?

Take whatever steps you can over the next 28 days to bring greater balance to your body, and to make mental peace and clarity a priority. Meditation, breathwork, yoga, tai chi, tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), and nature walks/swims are really good ways to give your nervous system a feeling of safety.

The right supplements and nutrition for the brain are crucial if you are not experiencing peace in the mind, however, meditation is truly irreplaceable. It would be of tremendous benefit to all Lightworkers to incorporate at least five minutes of daily meditation into their routines (ideally more!). The meditation can be any type you’d like!

FULL MOON – UNIQUE MERCURY RETROGRADE IN TWO SIGNS

The first Mercury Retrograde of 2022 is a unique one, as it begins in one sign and ends in another. It began on January 14 with its Direct Station in Aquarius, conjunct Saturn, the planet of karma and structure (ruled by Capricorn). On January 26, the planet of communication moves into Capricorn. It will station in Capricorn on February 4, then begin its march back Direct. Mercury will be fully out of its Shadow Phase by February 25.

This Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius squares Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius. Aquarius rules over the 11th house, including the Internet, social media, and humanitarian causes. During the first part of this Mercury Retrograde period, it may be a good time to reconnect with old Internet friends, to give new life to neglected social media accounts, and to reinvigorate humanitarian causes that you are involved in.

With the Retrograde Mercury squaring Uranus, this is a potent aspect that may precipitate mega communication difficulties. As I said before, people may have irrational reactions, especially in communication surrounding matters of the Heart, with Uranus also trining the Retrograde Venus in Capricorn. Relationships could have sudden interruptions, breaks, or breakups that will ultimately be in the Highest Good for both parties.

We are now in the first week of Mercury Retrograde, which is the most potent time. Mercury causes the most trouble in the week before and after the two Mercury Stations. I encourage you to watch the video I did on the Mercury Retrograde in Gemini last year to learn more about Mercury Retrograde in general: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5z5ybsiTmhs&t=697s.

Here is some general advice for Mercury Retrograde:

  • Make sure that all the ‘I’s are dotted’ and ‘all the T’s are crossed’ when signing any contracts. Consider Murphy’s Law during Mercury Retrograde: what can go wrong, will go wrong. Consider holding off on signing contracts until late February, if it’s something that isn’t time-sensitive.
  • Be extra clear in your communication with others. Give others more leeway than usual. Inquire to clarify what someone means by something if you’re unsure, especially if it’s via text message or e-mail.
  • Avoid purchasing big-ticket items (e.g. a new car) until late February, if possible
  • Back up all of your computer files and your smartphone!
  • Triple-check travel plans and appointment times. Verify times with others.
  • Release expectations of others, especially when it comes to people responding in a timely fashion. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Expectations of others may go unfulfilled.

As always, use Mercury Retrograde as a time to refine your communication, rather than to be afraid of miscommunications, or electronics breaking down, or travel plans getting interrupted.

During Mercury Retrograde, we have the opportunity to readdress relationships—including those from the past—in order to come to a place of greater balance. Since Aquarius is concerned with group consciousness and benefiting the all, try thinking about relationships in terms of what would be in the Highest Good for All involved. Venus is still Retrograde in Capricorn, so continue to use logic to consider whether the relationship really works or not in reality. Sometimes the mind needs to take precedence over the Heart when something really isn’t working.

AN AT-HOME NEPTUNE FORMS SOME NICE ANGLES WITH THIS CHART

Neptune, still in its home sign of Pisces, forms a wide trine to the full moon and a wide sextile to the sun and Pluto. So, despite all of the hardened Capricorn energy and destructive Pluto energy that is abound, the softness and femininity of the Neptune in Pisces forming a positive relationship with the full moon in her home sign of Cancer gives us a much-needed softness over the next 28 days. Pay attention to your dreams, as these are of the realm of Neptune. Important guidance and information could come from them.

Neptune also forms a wide square to Mars in fiery Sagittarius, signaling a battle between head-and-Heart that kind of reflects the Capricorn-Cancer polarity predicament that is of a similar theme.

Wishing you a wonderful, healthy, and pleasant Full Moon in Cancer!

With Love,
